Jon Zajac, Owner and Head Coach of Zajac Athletics
A little about my history is that I have been competing locally and nationally in Olympic Lifting since 2008. I found the sport nearly by accident, in an effort to improve at baseball I began lifting. The lifts seemed to come naturally and I started to enjoy Olympic Lifting more than baseball. Soon after I started the sport I began to take on coaching and clients.
After High School I began working at local gyms. This proved to not only increase my clientele but also my knowledge of the mechanics of lifting as I would approach each client that had different arrays of goals, athletic abilities, mobility issues, and past injuries. In 2010, I was hired by Penn Manor High School as their strength and conditioning coach. This opportunity allowed me to help shape young athletes to gain better understanding of overall strength and fitness.
My next adventure was with a local Crossfit gym which allowed me to really focus on Olympic Lifting movements. I began to build a barbell club as well as conducted Olympic Lifting clinics locally and as far as New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. After spending 3 years at a CrossFit gym, I felt that I had enough knowledge, skill and experience to open my own business. In 2014 I opened the doors to Lancaster Fitness and Performance, as well as Lancaster Barbell Club. We have had a wonderful 5 years in business and look forward to many years to come.
